NFAIS Announces New Governance for 2010-2011

 

Philadelphia, PA, February 28, 2010 - The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS™), the premier membership organization for all organizations that create, aggregate, organize and facilitate access to authoritative information, announced today its new governance for the FY 2010 - 2011. Judith C. Russell, Dean of University Libraries, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida, is the incoming President. Terence Ford, Head, Research Databases, the Getty Research Institute (The J. Paul Getty Trust), will continue to serve on the Board of Directors in the capacity of Immediate Past-President. Newly-elected members of the Board include:

• Suzanne BeDell, General Manager, Dialog

• David Brown, President, Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property Solutions

• Mark Gauthier, Vice President, Indexing & Editorial Services, the H. W. Wilson Company

• Chris McCue, Vice President, Marketing, CAS

• Judy Salk, Director, Editorial Operation, Elsevier Engineering Information

NFAIS Executive Director, Bonnie Lawlor, announced that the association's membership has elected current Board member, Keith MacGregor, Executive Vice President, Scientific and Scholarly Research, Thomson Reuters Healthcare & Science, as President-Elect 2010 - 2011.

"The Information Community is quite diverse and the NFAIS Board is representative of that Community. The directors are from major global information and technology providers across all market sectors - private, non-profit and government, and across all subject disciplines," commented Ms. Lawlor. "They exemplify the experienced and dedicated leadership that has been an NFAIS hallmark for the past fifty-two years, and have demonstrated a proven commitment to the organization and its membership. Indeed, under their leadership the organization has strengthened its finances, increased its services, and has continued to grow its membership. Each individual Board Member - whether new to the Board or a continuing member - is focused on ensuring that NFAIS evolves to meet the needs, wants and expectations of its diverse and growing membership. I look forward to working with all of them in the year to come."

Current members of the NFAIS Board of Directors include: Barbara Dobbs Mackenzie, Editor-in-Chief, RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, David Gillikin, Chief, Bibliographic Services, the National Library of Medicine, Ellen Herbst, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary of Commerce, U.S. Department of Commerce, and Lynn Willis, Content Development Manager, American Psychological Association.
