In his talk last week at the RSuite User Conference, Jason Monberg, VP of Product Management, Mark Logic, referenced three areas where publishers might further derive value from their content, specifically delivery, agility, and conversation.
With regard to delivery, he discussed the need to render and deliver content in many formats for many devices.
In discussing agility, Monberg referred to the re-use and re-mixing of content components, even at a granular level (that is, microcomponents). One such example was the use of Twitter to disseminate a meaningful indication of the content (a headline) with a shortened URL (one such as bit.ly that captures click-through statistics).
Finally, he talked about the value of conversations (commentary) surrounding a single piece of content, noting that value may acrete to a piece of content based on the quality of audience conversation appended to that content.
In a global, social, and mobile information environment, content providers should consider the broad array of options available for compelling user interest in quality content.
Mark Logic is a member organization of NFAIS.
